GAME ON

Are you ready for some football?
because I so am.

I've been counting down the days basically since the superbowl in January. Whoever wrote the song about Christmas being "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" either came up with the words before the conception of the National Football League, is getting his stocking stuffed with Apple stock shares, or is Santa Clause because the honor should undoubtedly go to the four months dedicated to the best sport on the planet. Warm and fuzzy football days of the Fall are here!

Thank goodness we get to enjoy the preseason on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, let's just hope the storm rolling in doesn't take out the cable....
The Dallas Cowboys, my hometown team, proclaimed America's team, and the team of the world-famous cheerleaders, are playing their first game of the season in their brand new coliseum right now. Of course right out of the gate the kickoff return is almost run back for a touchdown for an exciting start but, alas, there's a penalty and the Cowboy's ball is brought back to the starting side. The suspense is almost too much to bear.

Tomorrow I will be kicking off Houston's team, the Texans, at a tailgate party down at the stadium. The Texans are basically the runt of the NFL and they are definitely the "little train that could" by finishing off last season with an above .500 average which was a huge improvement from the year before. I'm not sure if I'm more excited to see them or their opponent the New Orleans Saints, who is led by former Charger QB Drew Brees.

I won't hide the fact that I am a fan of these boys from Texas, but there is only room in my heart for one special team. My San Diego Chargers.

Undoubtedly this next season will be just as much of an emotional rollerocoaster as the previous two seasons filled with excitement, screams, cheers and possibly a few tears. The good thing is that the schedule looks to be much easier than some of the former ones. So without the further possibility of jinxes and only hopes of big "W"s across the board, I can say with extreme confidence, this could be our year.

Some Epic Moments in recent Chargers' history:

Chargers outscore Bengals in 49-41 win
The Most incredible rally against the Cincinatti Bengals in the '07 season. The Chargers were down 28-7 at halftime and when everyone else gave up hope on pulling off a win, I found myself alone on the couch to stick out the rest of this miserable game. Rivers or Merriman must have given a riveting locker room pep talk because the Bolts managed to score 42 points in a second-half comeback. Booyah!

Chargers rally to beat Colts
January 14, 2008- The Chargers shut down Peyton Manning and the defending Super Bowl champions, scoring a 28-24 upset over the Colts before a stunned crowd of 56,950 in the final game at the RCA Dome in INDIANAPOLIS!!!! The In-and-Out served up "animal style" was just the cherry on the top of the magic of this game, high five!

Will the Chargers Do the Impossible This Season?
January 20, 2008 - The Chargers were unsuccessful in almost all of their attempts to overturn the Patriots due to too many of their own errors and their opponent's flawless game plan. All he buildup from the amazing season ended without a trace of all the hard work and magic like was so evident in all the other games. Definitely the most excrutiating loss ever being surrounded by New England jersey clad fans in a bar in the heart of LONDON looking on as Tom Brady and his team crushed our Superbowl dreams. How heartbreaking is that????

That's how I feel about that game. Boooooooo!

Oh, and take that Gisselle's and Bridgettes' babies' daddy!

sorry. It's nothing personal against you Tom Brady, I'm just a little bitter. still. about the ass kicking you delivered to my team. The games between our two clubs always ends in some sort of huge uprising or talking of the SMACK to one another. I mean, as an athlete I respect you and your arms-like-cannons that throw with exact precision and speed, and well the rest.... it's just hard to hate the guy.

Tom, you're pretty much the Mike Modano of Football.......

and the following song is for you.

Ciao for now.
